We are delighted to invite you to a FREE live webinar with Jo Oxley and Joanna Bealey exploring something that sits at the heart of therapeutic work, but is not always talked about openly:
When Your Attachment Meets Theirs: What Really Happens in the Therapy Room
Attachment doesn’t just belong to the client. Every therapeutic relationship brings together two attachment histories, two nervous systems and two different ways of reaching for connection, managing uncertainty and protecting against vulnerability.
So what happens when a client’s attachment strategies begin to meet our own?
In this experiential webinar, Jo Oxley and Joanna Bealey will explore attachment as something alive and unfolding in the therapy room, rather than simply a theory we use to understand a client’s childhood.
Together we will look at how a client’s ways of seeking safety, closeness or distance can shape the therapeutic relationship, how our own attachment experiences may influence the way we respond, and what happens when particular client and therapist patterns meet.
We will consider those moments when you find yourself thinking:
Why am I feeling so anxious with this client?
Why do I suddenly want to rescue them?
Why am I being so careful about what I say?
Why does it feel as though I am working much harder than they are?
And what might all of this be telling me?
Because sometimes the most useful information in the therapy room isn’t only in what the client tells us.
It is in what begins to happen between us.
This free webinar is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and other therapeutic practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of attachment-informed practice and become more confident in recognising attachment as it unfolds within the therapeutic relationship.
Presented by Jo Oxley and Joanna Bealey.

Jo Oxley is the founder of Optima and creator of the Attachment Courses as well as an attachment-focused psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer with over 35 years’ experience in teaching and supporting the development of therapists. As Founder of Optima Attachment Training, she brings theory to life through warm, relational teaching that helps practitioners grow in both confidence and clinical depth.
Joanna Bealey is an Attachment and Relationship Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Tutor in Attachment-Based Psychotherapy, with a background in perinatal and early years work. She has a particular interest in how attachment patterns shape couple relationships, parenting and the therapeutic relationship, and integrates attachment-based approaches, including EFT, into her clinical work. Alongside her private practice, Jo teaches on the Diploma in Attachment-Based Psychotherapy from Perth and delivers Circle of Security programmes for parents and professionals.

Optima Attachment Training is a specialist training and wellbeing organisation for people who want to understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape how they live and work. We started in the UK and are now launching in Australia and our courses are ACA approved.
Our work is rooted in attachment-informed practice, but we do not believe insight should stay in theory books or training rooms. It needs to be useful. It needs to make sense in real life.
We offer professional training, therapeutic learning, couples retreats, and restorative retreats for therapists who spend so much of their lives holding others.
At the heart of it all is the same belief: when people understand themselves more clearly, they can relate differently, recover differently, and grow in ways that last.
